The SPACE parenting group is a 12-week program designed to provide effective child anxiety support and address OCD. SPACE serves as an evidence-based mental health intervention aimed at reducing symptoms of child anxiety and OCD. In this parenting group, parents will gain insights into childhood anxiety, understand their child's specific symptoms, and develop strategies to minimize 'family accommodation' while enhancing support for their child. Although parents are not at fault for their child's anxiety, they can play a vital role in the solution to assist in treatment. Parents will undergo an assessment with a trained SPACE therapist, and based on their child's symptoms, they will be placed into one of our SPACE programs. For registration or inquiries, please call 312-600-5291 or email Jessica@jmmcounseling.com. You can also visit www.spacetreatment.net for more information about this intervention.
The child, who meets criteria for a clinical diagnosis of anxiety, is the client but is not actively part of the therapeutic treatment. Instead, the therapist will meet with caregivers and parents to enhance child anxiety support, while also addressing the issue of 'family accommodation.' This term refers to the common phenomenon in families where anxiety is present, where parents often shift or change their behaviors to reduce their child's anxiety. Additionally, participating in parenting groups can provide further strategies for effective mental health intervention.
The upcoming group for child anxiety support begins VIRTUALLY (with an in-person individual option) on Friday, May 16 at 12 PM. This 12-week program will focus on mental health intervention through group-based treatment, along with a few individually scheduled sessions to ensure a treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to your child. Each session is $30 or can be billed to insurance (BCBS PPO, Aetna, UBH, and Cigna). Join our parenting groups to help support your child's journey.
Are you interested in cutting back on alcohol or other substances? Does drinking and/or smoking no longer fit into your parenting lifestyle, but you're not sure how to change it? Let's explore these challenges with other sober curious parents in a supportive environment. This parenting group is not abstinence-based or 12-step based. We will spend some time examining our relationships with alcohol while also addressing important aspects of child anxiety support and overall mental health intervention. The group will explore the roles that substances play in our lives, helping us learn concrete and mindful ways to reduce or change our relationship with alcohol and other substances—all within the context of parenting. Parenting is hard, and co-parenting with a difficult partner can make it even more challenging. Divorce often brings complicated emotions, stress, and feelings of dehumanization. We recognize the importance of divorced parents coming together as a community to address stressors like parenting young children, navigating active litigation, dealing with trauma, coping with loss of relationships, and overcoming abuse. This support group is professionally led and offers valuable child anxiety support and mental health intervention for those in need.
