SPACE parenting group is a 12-week group treating child anxiety & OCD.
SPACE is an evidenced-based short-term mental health intervention to reduce child anxiety and OCD symptoms. Parents will learn about childhood anxiety, understand their child’s symptoms, and come up with a plan to decrease “family accommodation” and provide increased support to their child. While parents are not to blame for their child’s anxiety, they can be part of the solution to assist and treat their child. Parents will complete an assessment with a trained SPACE therapist, and based on their child’s symptoms will be placement into one of our SPACE programs. Please call 312-600-5291 or email Jessica@jmmcounseling.com to register or ask a question. You can also visit www.spacetreatment.net for more information about the intervention.
The child (who meets criteria for a clinical diagnosis of anxiety) is the client but is not actively part of the therapeutic treatment. The therapist will meet with caregivers/parents to increase support to their child, while reducing what is called "family accommodation". Accommodation is a psychological term for what happens in most families where anxiety is present, parents are shifting or changing their behaviors to lessen their child's anxiety.
Upcoming Group begins VIRTUALLY (with in person individual option) Friday, Jan 17 at 12P.
The program will meet for 12- weeks, the treatment will be group based with a few individually scheduled sessions to ensure a treatment that is uniquely tailed to your child.
$30 per session or insurance billed (BCBS PPO, Aetna, UBH and Cigna).
Are you interested in cutting back on alcohol or other substances?
Does drinking and/or smoking no longer fit into your parenting lifestyle, but not sure how to change it?
Let's explore it with other sober curious parents. This group is not abstinence based or 12-step based.
We will spend some time examining our relationships with alcohol and exploring whether we want to cut back or change it.
The group will explore the roles that substances play in our life, and we will learn concrete and mindful ways to reduce or change our relationship to alcohol and other substances.
We will do this all in the context of parenting.

Parenting is hard, and parenting with a difficult co-parent is even harder. Divorce can be complicated, disheartening and dehumanizing. We see the value in divorced parents coming together as a community to cope with stressors such as: parenting young children, active litigation, trauma, loss of relationships and abuse. The group is peer/professionally led.
Please reach out to inquire or join this monthly support community.
